The Company
Our client is a significant contributor to energy transition in Germany on overseas with approximately 1000 employees. They are an operator of high voltage transmission systems/networks. They are currently constructing a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission link that transport electricity from renewable sources such as offshore wind farms in the north of Germany to the central and southern regions. The project consists of a 300Km underground cable plus converter & transition substations, and represents an investment worth €2bn.
The Role
With your knowledge, experience and enthusiasm, as a Project Manager you will help our client to realise the completion of this pioneering project. In this role you will:
  • Manage stakeholders both inside and outside of the company;
  • Work strategically towards project goals and objectives, navigating any issues that may arise.
  • Manage work on the project including: medium-voltage (MV) feeds, AC distributors, DC distributors, battery systems, protection systems, lighting systems and fire alarm systems.
  • Develop detailed equipment concepts and accompany the necessary approval procedures if necessary;
  • Participate in the entire procurement process from the tender to acceptance;
  • Create detailed construction flow plans including the requirements for shutdown planning;
  • Manage external contractors, the quality and compliance of the project with the deadlines budget in mind;
  • Execution planning and procurement of services & materials in cooperation with the purchasing department;
  • Assist with factory and functional tests approvals;
  • Checking of documentation during the handover phases of the project;
  • Be a technical expert spokesperson with our client’s international partners;
  • Help to further develop project management methodologies;
  • Be a company representative at a national and international level in committees;
  • Following project completion bring your valuable experience in a new technical function such as network operations, asset management or new projects.
The Requirements
In order to apply for this position you must have the following skills, experience and background:
  • A minimum Bachelor’s (but preferably Master’s) Degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • At least three years of experience operating, planning or installing high and extra high voltage systems (HV / EHV),
  • In-depth knowledge of auxiliary & ancillary systems within substations on high-voltage or extra high-voltage (HV/EHV) projects,
  • Project management experience on large infrastructure projects,
  • A valid driving license for travel to project locations when necessary (and the willingness to travel occasionally);
  • Fluent/native in German and a good command of English (spoken and written).
  • Proficient in the use of various software such as MS Project or ITWO as well as some experience of project management tools and/or SAP.
