Clean Energy Investments Associate
$110,000 – $130,000 + Super

As a result of high growth, an international investments firm working directly within the Australian Energy space is after an Associate in Melbourne.
The role would involve working directly with the Director responsible for institutional fundraising whilst being exposed to Australia’s largest institutions and deal work.

  • Institutional Fundraise Support – Overall support of the organisation’s institutional fundraising efforts focusing on domestic institutions with possible exposure to their overseas investors as well; gaining exposure to the largest investors in Australia.
  • Analysis/Customer obsession – They want to understand their investors, their needs and how they think about allocating capital. This will require macro market analysis (what’s driving investment into energy), asset level analysis (running scenarios in models) and synthesising what this means for investors (comms).
  • Fund Structuring Their building funds from the ground up. What structures do investors use to access a sector and why? What does it mean for asset 1 in the Fund vs Asset 10?
  • Buy Side support – Working on the transaction for the acquisition of the seed asset for the m
  • Team Work – You’ll be required pro-actively work across the Investment team/asset management teams, along with external advisors to help deliver. 
Essential Skills  
  • Renewable Deal Experience: Institutional investors are much more technical, so a good understanding of the value drivers behind renewables. What risks are equity taking vs debt? Why are these compelling risks to be exposed to?  Also exposure to tax structuring a plus in a transaction.
  • Financial Modelling – need to take their in-house model, run scenarios and analysis. They’ll get questions from investors who are looking across a range of asset classes and will want to understand what’s driving returns and various sensitivities. This role will also be looking at bridging between asset level modelling and fund level modelling.
  • Project Management – Working with advisors, various stakeholders across the business (investment team, asset management team, ops team) to help deliver a key fundraise for the business.
  • Excellent Communication skills – ability to communicate ideas clearly – verbally and written.
  • Flexibility/Adaptability/Initiative – They’re a small team, they need to adapt quickly as the needs of the business change or change tact to go where the opportunities lie
