General Counsel

JDRoss are supporting a leading renewable energy who are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Counsel to join their team in Germany. In this role, you will serve as a key legal advisor and strategic partner, primarily focused on project development for solar energy.


Legal Strategy and Compliance:
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to support solar project development objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to solar energy project development in Germany.
Contract Negotiation and Management:
  • Lead negotiations and drafting of various agreements, including land leases, construction contracts, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and interconnection agreements.
  • Manage contractual relationships with vendors, contractors, landowners, and other stakeholders involved in solar project development.
Risk Management:
  • Identify legal and regulatory risks associated with solar project development activities and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on risk assessment and management throughout the project lifecycle.
Regulatory Affairs:
  • Monitor regulatory developments and policy changes affecting the solar energy industry in Germany.
  • Engage with relevant governmental agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations to advocate and influence policy decisions.
Due Diligence and Transactions:
  • Conduct legal due diligence for potential solar project acquisitions, investments, or joint ventures.
  • Support transactional activities, including asset purchases, equity investments, and project financing arrangements.
Dispute Resolution:
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes, claims, and litigation related to solar project development activities.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed to represent interests in legal proceedings.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including executives, project managers, and other functional teams.
  • Act as a liaison for external stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and industry partners.

  • Degree from an accredited law school.
  • In-depth experience practicing law, preferably in the energy sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of German energy law and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven track record of negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing legal risks
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess legal and regulatory issues within a business context.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate legal challenges and provide proactive solutions.
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken).
