JDRoss are seeking a motivated and resourceful Freelance Land Scout to support the development of utility-scale and commercial solar PV projects across Austria for our client.

The business have over 1GW of solar under development across Germany, Austria, Poland, France, Spain and Italy
As a land scout, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing suitable land for solar energy development. This role is ideal for individuals with strong local knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for renewable energy.


Key Responsibilities:

• Land Identification: Research and identify land parcels suitable for solar PV installations based on criteria such as size, topography, proximity to grid infrastructure, and land use regulations.
• Site Evaluation: Conduct preliminary assessments including site visits, photographic documentation, and basic feasibility checks.
• Landowner Engagement: Initiate contact with landowners, present project opportunities, and gauge interest in leasing or selling land.
• Data Collection: Maintain accurate records of scouted sites, landowner details, and site characteristics using provided tools or CRM systems.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the project development team to prioritise leads and support due diligence processes.
• Regulatory Awareness: Stay informed about local zoning laws, environmental restrictions, and permitting requirements relevant to solar development.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in land scouting, real estate, agriculture, or renewable energy In Austria
• Strong knowledge of Austrian geography and rural land markets.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Basic understanding of solar PV project development is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Austria.
• Proficiency in German (required); English is a plus.
