JD Ross Energy are seeking a Secondary Systems Design Engineer.

Our client is a leading energy network provider, seeking a skilled Secondary Systems Engineer to support the design and delivery of substation protection, SCADA, and communications systems. This role will be responsible for delivering high quality design services for complex distribution and zone substation related work.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects that power communities across the region.

Responsibilities:

Design secondary systems for substations, embedded generation, and communications upgrades
Review contractor designs and process works as executed drawings
Conduct site visits to ensure quality and resolve technical issues
Assist with safety design documentation, outage planning, and resource coordination
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide technical advice
Contribute to standards development aligned with IEC 61850
Identify and implement improvements to design and delivery processes

About you:

Minimum of 3+ years of industry experience in a similar role
Experience in substation secondary systems design and delivery, especially zone and distribution substation systems
Strong understanding of protection, SCADA, and communications systems
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
A proactive mindset with a focus on safety, quality, and innovation
Degree qualified in electrical engineering or related discipline
