Quantity Surveyor - Battery Storage
£70000 - £90000 per annum

JDRoss have partnered with a onshore renewable energy business in the UK who are looking to add a quantity surveyor to the team to work on BESS projects.

The Quantity Surveyor will play a critical role in the successful delivery of battery storage projects by ensuring effective cost management, contract management, procurement support, and commercial risk mitigation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for administering project contracts and participating in project cost estimation, budgeting, and cash flow management.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for battery storage projects
  • Develop detailed scope documents for tender packs and contract appendices
  • Contribute to tender evaluations, risk assessments, and pre-contract reviews to ensure robust commercial governance
  • Administer and manage contracts with technology suppliers and project contractors
  • Oversee contractor/supplier milestone achievements and project completion activities, ensuring compliance with contractual terms
  • Conduct site visits to verify progress and validate payment applications
  • Evaluate and negotiate change orders, Extension of Time (EoT) claims, early warning notices, and variations from suppliers/contractors
  • Implement and maintain change control, early warning registers, compensation event trackers, and LD claim logs
  • Monitor project expenditures against budgets
  • Manage final account settlements with project suppliers and contractors
  • Prepare and present project cost/commercial reports and forecasts to internal stakeholders

Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in a quantity surveying role, ideally within utility-scale renewable energy projects
  • Strong knowledge of contract law and standard forms such as FIDIC, NEC, and MF1
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required
