- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across the Cloud
- Platform roadmap, working in partnership with the Lead Site Reliability
- Engineer to ensure coherent and aligned delivery across an existing, complex AWS-based ecosystem.
- Define and evolve the existing AWS organisational design (including OUs and SCP strategy) to enable stronger governance and security controls (inline with UK Government security standards) while maintaining appropriate autonomy for GDS teams.
- Lead the design and implementation of AWS Control Tower and landing zone patterns, ensuring they are scalable, reusable, and aligned to organisational security and compliance requirements.
- Oversee the evolution of account vending approaches, improving automation, standardisation, and onboarding experience for teams consuming the platform.
- Drive the integration of AWS Identity Centre with Entra ID-based identity management, improving joiner–mover–leaver (JML) processes and strengthening privileged access controls.
- Continue to embed and promote FinOps practices, improving cost visibility, accountability, and optimisation both within the Cloud Platform team and across GDS.
- Establish and communicate clear architectural standards, patterns, and guardrails, ensuring they are consumable by teams and consistently applied across the platform.
- Provide cross-team technical coordination and stakeholder engagement, working in and with multidisciplinary teams to unblock delivery and ensure alignment across GDS.
- Support decision-making and prioritisation across the roadmap, ensuring trade-offs between security, cost, usability, and autonomy are made explicitly and transparently. Read less
