We are seeking a Field Service Technician to support a major project in Texas, with opportunities for nationwide travel. What You'll Do
Are you an experienced electrical field service professional looking to work on mission-critical power systems? We are seeking a Field Service Technician to support a major project in Texas, with opportunities for nationwide travel. This hands-on role offers the chance to work with advanced power distribution, switchgear, and control systems while partnering directly with customers to ensure critical infrastructure operates safely and reliably.
What You'll Do
- Lead the start-up, testing, commissioning, and validation of low- and medium-voltage switchgear and automatic transfer switch (ATS) systems.
- Perform site assessments, equipment installation, maintenance, and service activities on power distribution, automation, and control systems.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain paralleling switchgear, ATS equipment, control systems, and related mechanical components.
- Support commissioning, upgrade, and modernisation projects, ensuring systems meet operational requirements before customer handoff.
- Complete field projects safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality and performance standards.
- Collaborate with field service teams, engineering teams, and customers to deliver exceptional service and technical support.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, service reports, and expense records.
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to customers and internal teams.
- Assist with technical training and quality review activities as needed.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance on power distribution and control equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and related electrical or automation equipment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and industry codes, including NFPA, CSA, and UL requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, mobile devices, and digital reporting tools.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with a professional, solutions-oriented approach.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% based on business and customer requirements.
- NETA or NICET (ETT Level II or higher) certification in electrical equipment testing.
- OSHA 30-Hour, MSHA, and NFPA 70E training.
- Experience commissioning low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling switchgear.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical equipment, including switchgear, ATS equipment, generators, and circuit breakers.
- Experience with protective relaying, PLCs, HMIs, metering, and industrial control systems.
- Work on critical electrical infrastructure projects that support essential facilities and operations.
